Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed, the esteemed Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has confirmed that the institution is set to flag off a part time Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) course in Aviation Management come September 27, at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) at Oshodi – Lagos.
Capt. Mohammed suggested that airlines, government agencies and private companies should take advantage of the program, which has been specially designed to meet the needs of the aviation industry as it exists today. In his words, “You are aware that the aviation industry is very technical and dynamic. Things change every day. You can’t continue to use the knowledge you garnered about ten years ago to run the aviation industry of today.”
He went on to enumerate the benefits of the program, “The PGD in Aviation Management we are running is new to our environment, and it’s been introduced to elevate our industry and its personnel.”
According to the school’s rector, quite a large number of people have shown interest in applying for this course, which was part of the reason why the three semester course will be taught in Lagos in the first place, “…We intentionally brought it to Lagos in a bid to be closer to the people. As you are aware, Lagos is the concentration of aviation activities. So we brought it here for people to actively participate in it.”
NCAT has now been recognized three times by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as the institution with the most number of certified training instructors in the world, and as a Regional Training Center of Excellence. By virtue of this fact, they have been given the mandate by ICAO Global Aviation Training (GAT) to introduce additional courses into the school’s curriculum.
