In preparation for the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) Annual General Assembly (AGA) scheduled to take place from the 24-26 November 2019 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, AFRAA Secretary General, Mr. Abdérahmane Berthé, and the President of AFRAA, also C.E.O of Camair-Co, Mr. Ernest Dikoum, met with the Minister Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, Mr. Mohamadou Moustafa, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Cameroon, Hon. Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe and other government stakeholders in Yaoundé ahead of the 51st AFRAA AGA.
Expressing his satisfaction with the Cameroon government’s commitment to liberating the African skies through the Single Air Transport Market (SAATM), Mr. Berthé said “The Airline business cannot grow and thrive without market access- it is one of the critical factors for airlines business to succeed. With the liberalization of African skies for African careers, the African airspace is poised for greater heights that will bring us closer to our common goal of an integrated and prosperous Africa”.
After stating factors necessary for the success of aviation businesses in Africa, he spoke on the negative effects of high taxes, and suggested possible solutions to a number of challenges faced by the industry. He applauded Camair-Co, the host of this year’s AGA, on their recent renewal of IOSA, which demonstrates the airline’s commitment in maintaining global safety standards. Mr. Ernest Dikoum expressed his joy in hosting this year’s AGA in the words “It is a pleasure and an honor to host the 51st AFRAA Annual General Assembly and summit in Yaoundé. Camair-Co looks forward to welcome airline top executives and other aviation stakeholders to Cameroon”. The event will be attended by various heavy-weights in the industry.
